Community Profile

Okhla is a suburban colony located near Okhla barrage in the south East Delhi district of
 Delhi. the whole industrial area is named after the main Okhla village, in south Delhi, with nearby areas now as its own parts like Jogabai Extension, Batla House, Okhla Vihar, Zakir Nagar, Jamia Nagar, Abul Fazal Enclave, Shaheen Bagh, Kalindi Colony, and Kalindi Kunj. The Okhla area has a high density of Muslim Population. A couple of Kilometers from Nehru Place, as one enters the Okhla zone, potholed streets and heaps of trash welcome guests. Among the essential issues is the flawed waste disposable systems which do not promote smell yet additionally is a favorable place for mosquitos, unlawful infringements have added to the blockage here. Socio-Economic Demography

  1. Okhla is a community that falls under the South District of Delhi. In 2011, the population of South Delhi was 2,731,929, of which male and female were 1,467,428 and 1,264,501 respectively.
  2. The initial provisional data released by census India 2011, shows that the density of the South Delhi district for 2011 is 11,060 people per sq. km.
  3. The average literacy rate of South Delhi in 2011 was 86.57 compared to 81.96 in 2001. If things are looked out at gender-wise, male and female literacy were 91.73 and 80.55 respectively.
  4. With regards to the Sex Ratio in South Delhi, it stood at 862 per 1000 males compared to the 2001 census figure of 799.
  5. In 2011, total numbers of 4,204 families live on footpaths or without any roof cover in the South Delhi district of Delhi. Total Population of all who lived without roof at the time of Census 2011 numbers 8,505. This approx. 0.31% of the total population of South Delhi district.

  7. As per the 2011 census, 0.45 % population of South Delhi districts lives in rural areas of villages. The total South Delhi district population living in rural areas is 12,193 of which males and females are 6,819 and 5,374 respectively.
